📚 PART 1 · ใช้ Past Continuous เมื่อไร?

เหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น ณ เวลาหนึ่งในอดีต

I was reading a book at 8 p.m. last night.
She was cooking dinner at that time.
They were playing football at 5 o'clock.

2️⃣

สองเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นพร้อมกันในอดีต

I was studying while my sister was watching TV.
He was singing while she was dancing.

3️⃣

เหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น แล้วถูกขัดจังหวะ

I was sleeping when the phone rang.
She was walking home when it started to rain.

4️⃣

บรรยายฉากหรือบรรยากาศในอดีต

The sun was shining and the birds were singing.
Everyone was smiling at the party.

คำ	ใช้กับ	ตัวอย่าง
while	Past Continuous (เหตุการณ์ที่กำลังดำเนินอยู่)	While I was cooking, she called me.
when	Past Simple (เหตุการณ์สั้นที่เข้ามาขัดจังหวะ)	I was cooking when she called me.

While I was studying, my phone rang.
I was studying when my phone rang.

Past Continuous	Past Simple
กำลังเกิดขึ้นอยู่ ณ ช่วงเวลานั้น	เกิดขึ้นและจบไปแล้ว
I was watching TV at 8 p.m.	I watched TV last night.
ใช้บรรยายฉาก / เหตุการณ์ต่อเนื่อง	ใช้เล่าลำดับเหตุการณ์ที่จบแล้ว
มักใช้กับ while	มักใช้กับ when, yesterday, last...

ประโยคที่มี when + Past Simple ตามด้วยเหตุการณ์ยาวกว่า มักใช้คู่กับ Past Continuous
เช่น I was walking home when it started to rain.

💡 เคล็ดลับจำง่าย

Past Continuous ต้องมี 2 ส่วนเสมอ คือ was / were และ V-ing
I / He / She / It ใช้ was ส่วน You / We / They ใช้ were
