1. รูปพื้นฐาน: that + subject + base form

The committee recommended that the proposal be revised.

The guidelines require that each case be assessed individually.

They insisted that he not be excluded from the discussion.

กริยาใน that-clause ใช้ base form

• ไม่มี -s แม้ subject เป็นเอกพจน์

4. Adjectives และ nouns ที่บอกความจำเป็น

Noun patterns:

The recommendation that the policy be reviewed was accepted.

There is an urgent need that the issue be addressed.

5. Should-mandative

British English มักใช้ should ใน mandative clause

6. Infinitive Alternatives

7. Insist: เรียกร้องหรือยืนยันข้อเท็จจริง

She insisted that the meeting be postponed.

10. Passive Mandatives และ Agency

The board requested that the figures be verified independently.

Passive เหมาะเมื่อผู้ตรวจไม่สำคัญหรือยังไม่ระบุ

The board requested that an external auditor verify the figures.

Active ระบุ agent และอาจทำให้ requirement เข้มขึ้นด้านความเป็นอิสระ

อย่าสรุปจาก passive ว่าไม่มี agent หรือ action เกิดเอง ผู้เขียนเพียงไม่ foreground ผู้ทำ

It was recommended that procedures be improved.

11. Formulaic Subjunctives

12. Hypothetical Were

Subjunctive ยังปรากฏใน hypothetical condition

If I were responsible for the decision, I would publish the evidence.

If the claim were true, the figures would be difficult to explain.

ในภาษาสนทนา was พบได้กับ first/third person แต่ were เหมาะกับ formal hypothetical และช่วยแยกจากคำถามว่าข้อเท็จจริงในอดีตเป็นอย่างไร

If the claim was included in the original report, we should be able to find it.

The regulations require that all visitors wear identification.

แต่ละแบบจัด information focus ต่างกัน

• modal ทำ requirement ตรง
• passive are required foreground ผู้ถูกกำหนด
• noun form เหมาะกับการอธิบายตัว requirement
• mandative clause foreground ผู้กำหนด regulations

การ paraphrase ที่ดีรักษาความจำเป็นและ agent/source ของกฎเท่าที่จำเป็น

14. ตัวอย่างวิเคราะห์แบบเต็ม

The inquiry recommended that every complaint be reviewed by an independent officer. It also advised that records not be destroyed while an appeal was pending. The department insists that its existing procedures are adequate, but has agreed that a revised protocol be introduced next year.
